Platform Agnostic

As technology moves forward, we as IT professionals, are constantly being challenged with new protocols. Paradigm shifts in thinking about network topologies, and learning to adopt new vendors into our infrastructure challenge us day to day. There are many problems that we are going to face in this modern style of networking as different hardware vendors become more prominent within our networks.

Windows, Mac, Linux. People use what they like. That should be encouraged. We ourselves at Copious would not want to be confined to only one option which is why we support and specialize in; the integration of multiple platforms into a single homogenous network. Constant subscription to any one vendor only impedes innovation because it’s impossible for all the worlds smart to work at one place! We love new technology, and the best solution usually comes from a combination of vendors. After all, variety is the spice of life.

Ethical Practice

The information and communication technology (ICT) sector accounts for almost 4% of worldwide carbon. This is a staggering number on par with the airline industry. Most of this carbon is produced from increasing demands for data retention. Addressing this growing requirement today is the only way to curb exponential resource consumption for tomorrow.

At Copious, we strive to see that every IT environment can be optimized to use as little resources as possible. This is achieved by using a variety of tactics: Deploying new technology, procedures and policies to govern the power consumption, holding vendors responsible to create a published EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) plan. As well as use proper downstream to responsibly and ethically recycle e-waste.

Ethical recycling for e-waste is vitally important to the sustainability of the ICT sector. E-waste is illegally exported on a daily basis from countries that have signed the 1992 Basel Convention. This e-waste ends up in developing nations where locals set up make shift smelters to extract precious metals thus creating a financial dependency on e-waste. From these areas large amounts of toxins are released into our air because of open air incineration such as cadmium, barium, dioxin, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These toxins reach the upper parts of our atmosphere and traverse the globe. Effecting all it comes in contact with.

There are organizations out there such as Free Geek Vancouver who are spearheading the first step in ethical recycling. They research downstream recyclers before sending e-waste out. Also, to mitigate the amount of computers being recycled they have a reuse program where any one of any skill level may volunteer and earn their very own computer. The computers that Free Geek Vancouver reuses help fight against the illegal exportation of e-waste.

Core Integration

The only way to create solid IT solutions is by becoming symbiotic with you, the company. No longer do we perceive your business goals, but instead see that they are also our business goals. Thus, the purpose of Copious is to align IT with your business goals. We do this by becoming a trusted advisor to your company, representing your needs while observing your practices and giving honest advice.

When deciding what IT hardware to purchase there are many things to take into consideration. It is always a hard situation when a company has purchased hardware from a well meaning vendor only to find out that it was not what would have worked best. We represent your interests when speaking with hardware vendors to make sure that you receive the right solution for you and for your company.

Every workplace is different. The operational procedures, culture, as well as company mandate. There may be areas where your operation could be more efficient and/or effective by simply evaluating different the integration of some common technology. Whether that is better mobile communication, centralized documentation or asset management. We believe that the best way to find these improvements is to understand you, the company, and your operations intimately. In return we offer our honest advise and extend to you our depth of experience in IT office infrastructure.

When creating the managed services platform it was decided early on for our message to be clear. “Your goals are our goals.”
